What is a Pink Slip?

A pink slip is an inspection report that verifies your car is safe and ready for the road. In NSW it is compulsory for your vehicle to undergo a safety inspection; if it is more than three years old, as a condition of registration renewal.

Now known as an e-Safety Check

In NSW, pink slips have been renamed: e-Safety Checks, which is ultimately a pink slip that has been sent to the RTA electronically.

What happens after the inspection?

Vehicle PASSES Pink Slip / e-Safety Check:

1. Abel Auto Repair will send the electronic safety check report to the RTA.
2. Make sure you’ve purchased a green slip.
3. Renew your registration online, by mail, phone or your nearest motor vehicle registry office.

Vehicle FAILS Pink Slip / e-Safety Check:

1. Abel Auto Repair will issue you with a 'repairs needed report'.
2. Make all required repairs within 14 days of the report issue date.
3. Have the repairs checked (if repairs are carried out by Abel Auto this will happen automatically).
4. If repairs have been checked and the report cleared, your vehicle will be ready for registration.
